The church of St Joseph the Worker opened and was dedicated as a chapel of ease to St Mary's on 1st May 1971. In 1972 it was founded as a parish in its own right. As with St Mary's it became part of the Diocese of Hallam in 1980.
The parish of St Joseph the Worker merged with the parish of St Mary, Worksop in 2007. On 1st January 2019 this combined parish was merged with the parish of St Helen, Oldcotes to form the new parish of St Jude.
